Olaf Hajek - Animated!

If you are a fan of Olaf Hajek, and you really should be by now, then we've got a real treat for you! Olaf has been working in Brazil the past couple on an animated project, which sees his paintings and whimsical worlds come to life with breathtaking motion.
"Afinal, o Que Querem as Mulheres?"  is a new television series debuting in Brazil this month, and features a whopping 60-seconds of animated Olaf during the title sequence. This beautiful work can be seen here

Alex Majoli - Doenjang

Alex Majoli is not only a prolific photographer in the world of reportage, but also a masterful film-maker. His film "Doenjang" is a story built with behind-the-scenes images of castings, fashion shows and designer’s ateliers during the latest Paris Fashion Week. Accompanied by a haunting cello-led score, the protagonists of the film are four avant-garde brands: Haider Ackermann, Hussein Chalayan, Bernhard Willhelm and AF Vandevorst. A report that offers an insight to the behind the scenes of fashion, Doenjang can be seen here

Alex Majoli was born in 1971 in Ravenna, Italy, studying at the Art Institute in Ravenna while beginning to work as a photojournalist. Majoli covered the fall of the Taliban and the invasion of Iraq, and works for publications worldwide including the New York Times Magazine, National Geographic and Newsweek, and clients such as Nike and ING.

Alex Telfer - Moving Images and Travellers

Known primarily for his powerful, realistic and emotive imagery, Newcastle-based Alex Telfer is a also claiming his ground as an accomplished director. In between his photography shoots, Alex has directed a number exceptional TV spots for clients such as the British Government Department of Health, Guinness, Quantum Claims and Visit England.
Alex Telfer's personal project "Travellers" was also recently featured in the Sunday Times Spectrum magazine, exhibiting striking portraits of a North Country travellers' community. After a chance meeting with Terry Coulson, aged 78, at the Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria, Alex Telfer began to photograph this patriarch traveller and his community in Craghead, County Durham. Alex decided to go a little deeper and try to be allowed into a travellers life, not an easy feat as gypsies are very guarded to say the least.

Latest Book From Ben Newman Now On Pre-order!

Hold on to your hats, folks! Ben Newman's brand new Bento Bestiary is now ready for pre-order (its only £12 English sterling). Every pre-order comes with a Nobrow canvas bag (while stocks last). Pre-order the book by simply clicking HERE!
"Fourteen spirits and demons are lovingly rendered by Ben Newman in the bold and colourful illustration style we have come to expect from him. Newman draws heavily on early and mid-20th century design in his work, incorporating worldwide themes from European deco to Japanese film posters and 50’s American cartoons, never losing his strong sense of a most English deadpan humour. Each image is complimented with words from S J Donaldson. Whether detailing the love letters of Nure-onna (a gigantic snake-headed woman), or a poetic treatise on the child-eating desires of the Kappa (a sort of strange, perverted turtle), the writer always has one foot in the carnival tent, one on the streets of noir, and the other inside a restaurant; a sort of freakish, hungry, Raymond Chandler."

From Sketch to Complete: The Work of IC4DESIGN

Hiro and Daisuke show us their work process from start to finish of a New York Times Magazine brief below.

‘We meet clients in a variety of ways: face to face, phone, Skype and email. The process is often slow at first. I draw many small sketches that will eventually make up the larger illustration.’

‘After this we’ll do a rough sketch in a lower resolution. Once this is done, we draw a more complex line in higher-resolution.’

‘We refer to various documents and images of things like buildings and cars. Knowing the details is very important to the illustration work we do.’

‘For big illustrations, the work will take between 30-60 days. Usually about a week before finishing, we will continue drawing and working for 18-20 hours per day.’

Final Amazing image! thank you guys!

Serial Cut Worldwide LG Campaign

Serial Cut™ have done an amazing job with LG's campaign for their new line of Optimus smartphones which are designed to "open up" the world around you. The Madrid-based studio put in some very long hours to create this flawless piece, although we still can't tell if it's papercut or 3D? See more of their jazzy portfolio here

SERIAL CUT™ is a Madrid based studio, established in 1999 by Sergio del Puerto, working on a wide variety of worldwide projects, but focussing mainly on Art Direction. A growing team... Serial Cut™ works alongside an ever-growing team of professionals, who specialize in different areas such as photography, design, motion-graphics and 3D design. Depending on the nature of a given project, different collaborators are chosen to give each piece a new dimension. Versatile projects... Big and small companies from arts and culture, fashion or entertainment industries are our primary clients; for each new project from a given client, we like to change the look and feel of the design. Type reinforces the concept Image and type are a great combination that we like to use on all the projects we work on. Typography plays an important role in the end product. Visual culture... Inspiration comes from current and past decades, but we always review it and renew it, bringing it into today's perspective with an actual look. Surpass expectations Our aim is to go beyond what's in our minds and in our clients' minds when we start a project, to take the challenge a little further both in terms of technique and of concept, and to always end up with a contemporary and fresh result.
